![]() ![]() Overpronation is a common issue where your feet roll too far inward when you run, potentially leading to pain or injury. I see severe over pronation on my old NB and initially they hurt a lot, but over time my foot forced it into shape, I don’t want to deal with that again. If you're looking for running shoes to help with overpronation, New Balance is a brand that might catch your eye. I’ve read/heard that if the shoe hurts from the get-go you have the wrong shoe and you shouldn’t force yourself to adjust to it. I may try the Superfeet on the 990v5 if the 1540v3 doesn’t work out. ![]() I also bought the lowest arch support Superfeet orthotic inserts, the Superfeet Black (because they work well with snug fitting shoes) to replace the 1540v3’s default insole. The high arch support causes me a lot of pain and for some strange reason my heel hurt as well. The arch support on the 990v5s was very high, I could feel it the moment I put it on. They recommend a normal width and not wide based on my shoe size length and width measurement. I’m skeptical though, so I opted for size 10.5 for the 1540v3s(adding 1 cm to my length brought the 9.5 to 10.5) and followed their chart for width. I looked at the chart from NB and they claim that’s an US 9.5 shoe size. ![]() There may have been another issue with my 990v5s, I bought size 11 wide, and I did a lot of measuring using the outline of my feet and I get 27.5cm length and 10.5cm wide, and it is possible my 990v5 are too big. My arch is flat when standing but very small when sitting. I don’t know if they will be better as I won’t get them until Saturday but there are a lot of positive things said from people with flat feet about those shoes. I ended up getting the 1540v3 which are better for flat feet and overpronation. ![]()
